"The Pirate Queen" Receives Best Debut Award at Raindance Film Festival

"The Pirate Queen: Night of Succession," an immersive VR puzzle game, has won The Discovery Award: Best Debut at Raindance Film Festival. The game, developed by the talented team at Singer Studios showcased its captivating narrative as a groundbreaking VR experience.

"The Pirate Queen" takes players on an extraordinary journey to the 19th century South China Sea, and is based on the life of Cheng Shih, an widow who rose to become one of history's most formidable pirates, commanding a fleet of over 70,000 men. Supported by Creative England and BFI ScreenSkills, the game has garnered widespread acclaim for its immersive gameplay, visually stunning world, and remarkable storytelling.

Directed by the multi-award-winning filmmaker Eloise Singer, "The Pirate Queen", the game's success has paved the way for its development as a podcast, graphic novel and television series, in collaboration with the Beijing-based Seesaw Films, ("The Farewell").

The Discovery Award: Best Debut nomination further solidifies "The Pirate Queen's" position as a rising star in the gaming industry. This category celebrates emerging talent and highlights the game's impressive debut and promising future.
