Eloise Singer - Founder & CEO of Singer Studios

Creative England has unveiled the 10 entrepreneurs selected for its pioneering Female Founders initiative, including Singer Studios Founder & CEO, Eloise Singer.

The Female Founders initiative, curated by Creative England, aims to address the existing gender disparity in entrepreneurship and acknowledge the success and safety of investment opportunities that female-run companies often present.

According to Creative England, Female Founders is “an acknowledgement that female-run companies tend to be more successful and offer safer investment opportunities than those helmed by men, but that women nevertheless find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to establishing and scaling up their businesses.”

The 2021 Female Founders cohort features a range of entrepreneurs at the forefront of the creative industry:

  1. Hannah Wood - Story Juice (games, immersive storytelling)

  2. Barbara Santi - Awen Productions (documentary)

  3. Julie Heathcote - Factory Films (factual TV)

  4. Anna Hall - Candour Productions (documentary)

  5. Eloise Singer - Singer Studios (film production)

  6. Diana Ellis-Hill - Be The Fox (documentary)

  7. Kath Shackleton - Fettle Animation (animation)

  8. Liz Cunningham - Forward Slash Films (immersive storytelling)

  9. Juliet Tzabar - Plug in Media (digital production)

  10. Jane Gerber - Peanut & Crumb (documentary)

The Female Founders initiative is part of Creative England's broader Creative Enterprise program, which provides a range of initiatives, connections, training, and networking opportunities to drive business growth in the screen industries. Developed in collaboration with industry leaders and mentors, Creative Enterprise has gained a reputation for its intensive support and ability to create opportunities for growth and success in the moving image sector. Participants in this year's cohort include Eloise Singer, the executive producer behind Billie Piper's Venice Critics' Week selection, "Rare Beasts."

Haley Edwards, Creative Enterprise Programme Manager for Creative England, said:

“With such a talented and ambitious group on board, Female Founders is really off to a flying start. These 14 women exemplify why our creative industries are such a global success story; they’re committed to breaking new ground, creating world-class content and telling meaningful stories in innovative ways. We couldn’t be happier to be working with them, and we hope to help them grow and scale up their businesses so they can continue going from strength to strength.”

Creative England's Female Founders initiative aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable landscape for women in entrepreneurship, furthering the success of the moving image sector in the English regions outside of London.
